The Liberal Fraud....

Many of those who support more government involvement, higher taxes and a more equitable distribution of the wealth are people who themselves refuse to live in accordance with their professed views in real life.

Their lame refrain often goes, “Well, if that’s the rules that are set I’m going to live by them.”

That very view makes both ideological frauds and moral cowards of all such people.

People who believe in something can and should live their own lives by those principles, so long as they don’t violate any laws.

A business owner, attorney, physician or trader who believes in a more equitable distribution of income could very easily live up to that standard by, for one thing, paying his staff, right on down to the janitor significantly more than the market rate, while taking less out of the business for their own compensation.

Henry Ford did that and changed the face of manufacturing in America, by transforming what were once low-wage, dangerous jobs into high paid positions that increased the size of the American middle class.

And while there is no way for an individual to increase the government’s level involvement in our lives, there’s certainly no laws against any individual who truly believes that they are under-taxed from simply donating more monies to the government via their tax returns.

Again, a true believer isn’t obsessed or even concerned with what others are paying, the true believer is focused on living up to their own ideological standards...anything less makes one an ideological fraud.

The Fatal Flaw on The Left

Liberalism and EVERY Left-leaning movement (Communism, Socialism, Communalism), hereon called “Leftism,” is a LIE because it is itself based on a lie.

Leftism is purportedly based on the ideal of selfLESSness and it claims to seek to SERVE and HELP others, especially the “poor and downtrodden,” but it is not that at all.

Selflessness requires that we seek no gain and especially no power or control for ourselves, that we, in fact, truly elevate others before and over ourselves. SELFLESSNESS is very hard, Leftism/Liberalism is very easy.

Contemporary American Liberalism/Leftism is a movement that seeks power and control over others. It doesn’t SERVE others, it seeks to MAKE others “good” by its own definition of the term “good.” Liberals feel superior to others, and not merely “morally superior,” but more intelligent, more kind and generally “better people.”

That is why the Left has always attracted the most misanthropic people among us, from Hitler, perhaps whose most disgusting sentiments were uttered on May 1st, 1927 when he said, "We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions." - Adolf Hitler
(Speech of May 1, 1927. Quoted by Toland, 1976, p. 306)

Sure, the mass murder and the racial purity of Hitler’s regime were as horrific as the mass murder and class-hatred endorsed by other leading Leftists of his day (Mao and Stalin, for instance), but THESE sentiments alone condemn Hitler as a repugnant monster, the worst kind of misanthrope – the “anti-Capitalist.” The anti-Capitalist stands primarily against the freedom of human action, primarily out of envy and often a feeling of meaningless on his part, but his hatred is fueled by the free action of others and his hatred for other people’s success.

To this day, such are the kinds of people who populate the precincts of the far-Left.

Environmentalism: Covert Misanthropy

Today, there is less tolerance for grandiose ideas like “equality,” as it’s been misused so many times throughout history. Naïve idealism has also run its course. Such people are generally not taken seriously, no matter how much the media may exalt them.

Environmentalism has provided a much needed cover for the seething misanthrope of this age.

Unlike the Conservation movement that has always fought for people to be “good stewards of the earth,” the environmental movement has always provided sanctuary for those who’d seek to rationalize their misanthropy (their hatred for mankind) by claiming that all they sought was to put nature, or the earth above or ahead of man’s selfish wants.

From **** who argued in favor of forcibly reducing human populations to “save the earth” to vile racial bigots and wild conspiracy kooks, like Van Jones, the environmentalist movement has always welcomed the most misanthropic and hate-filled fringe among us.

What the environmentalist movement has done is to allow for a little more honesty from the Left. It’s allowed those so inclined to openly indulge in their misanthropic and anti-human impulses under the “respectable guise” of “loving the earth.” FINALLY the haters are free to espouse their anti-human hatred!

Environmentalism’s Poor Antecedent: Ludditism

Before environmentalism, the prevailing anti-Capitalist and anti-human doctrine was Ludditism – the anti-industrial dogma from which modern-day environmentalism sprang.

The Luddites fought industrialization as “impoverishing and discounting” workers and transforming the bucolic landscape into a forest of smoke stacks.

But the benefits of industrialization in terms of increased comforts and prosperity doomed that movement from gaining much ground except among the most ardent of misanthropic zealots.

Equality Versus Liberty/Freedom

Inequality is the natural state of all mankind. That much is obvious and undeniable. All one needs do is look around and observe that people are naturally born with DIFFERENT and VARYING abilities and qualities, some are far better looking, some as far smarter, others are incredibly clever and some seem to have no discernable marketable skills.

In that regard, EQUALITY is ALWAYS and EVERYWHERE and in all cases, the enemy of individual LIBERTY. Free people are NOT equal.

People born with varying skills and varying will never be equal. The unskilled and less motivated will NEVER produce as much as the highly skilled and motivated individual.

Leftism sees that natural disparity in abilities and production to be a flaw that must be overcome, while FREEDOM-lovers revel in those kinds of differences and disparities between individuals.

ALL of America’s Founders were FREEDOM-lovers. ALL of them were individualists who saw in government a tendency to overreach and ultimately oppress and suppress the governed, which is why they shackled the U.S. government with the chains of the Bill of Rights.

Even in this country’s Declaration of Independence, the term “happiness” is defined as PROPERTY in the Federalist Papers.

The private ownership of property is a prerequisite of individual LIBERTY a/k/a FREEDOM.

Leftists, like Noam Chomsky (pictured above), argue that, “So long as there is the private ownership of property, there will be gross inequities between people and the suffering of the many for the benefit of the few.”

The FIRST part of Chomsky’s statement is true. So long as there is private property, people will remain largely free and unequal, BUT those inequities are based on productivity and value. Those who create the most benefit for others, also reap the most personal benefit for themselves. That’s what motivates producers to produce and gives the less motivated, something to aspire to, which spurns further productivity.

So, those who produce less and accrue less, are not “suffering,” they’re making a conscious, deliberate choice to work/produce less, in effect, trading LESS productivity or work, for MORE time.

So, just as the most productive among us tend to be resource (ie. Money) rich and time poor, the less productive tend to be time rich and resource poor. In the end it all depends upon perspective. In a very real sense, it’s all relative, so Chomsky is wrong about “the many suffering for the benefit of a few.” That doesn’t happen in any free society, where private property rights are honored and the market-based economy is the economy of choice.

Personal Hubris and Liberalism – the Helper is ALWAYS Look DOWN on Those He “HELPS”

One of the attractions Leftism has for control-freaks and others who seek power over their fellow men is its covering their lust for power and control behind the lie of selfless dedication to “serving the people.”

Leftists always present themselves as “helpers,” but the helper is always looking DOWN upon those he/she seeks to help...and THAT is the essence of the hubris of Leftism – the “helper” always looking down on the hapless, helpless “helpees.”

This alone reduces the “selfless” allure of the philosophy of the Left to nothing more than a vile con.

The Anti-Freedom Ethos

Today, as in the past, anti-freedom zealots use the banner of “the public good” and “equality” to trump and undermine freedom, but FREE people are NOT equal and when people ARE equal, they are NEVER free!

America’s Founders enshrined private property rights in America and made individual Liberty, which is incompatible with ANY form of Leftism. “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness/property” clearly meant, you had the right to OWN your own life and make your own way in this world, clearly on your own efforts. That you had the right to INDIVIDUAL liberty – the right to own and exchange property without any outside coercion or interference, AND you had the right to PURSUE your own PROPERTY/happiness, although no one had the right to pursue your own success and your own development, but NOT any guarantee that you will attain or achieve what you want.

There is no debate about any of that, even we’ve veered vary far away from that standard (and to our detriment), THAT remains the essence of Americanism.

Failed Conservatism or Wishful Liberal Feeeling?

This election established that "conservatism" is a failed political ideology that has no place in the modern world. America has spoken and rejected that ridiculous ideology. (a generic Liberal)
.
.
OK, I’ll bite, looking at Tuesday’s results, I must agree, though I'm happy to see that the "NEW" Liberalism now opposes gay marriage, which went down to overwhelming defeat in Arizona (atoning for failing to do so in 2006), Nebraska and even California, of all places....even SF voted in favor of strictly defining marriage as "between 1 man and 1 woman...and three more states passed referendums banning race and gender preferences, which must now also be an established part of this "New Liberalism.”
.
Four of five Americans polled want a smaller, less intrusive government and lower taxes, even though almost 2 of 3 support the NSA surveillance programs (as does Obama)....all I can say is that I support all those positions...always have..

Now I see where Rahm Emanuel (a former IDF member) and a bona fide Conservative Democrat, who was responsible for recruiting scores of Blue Dog Democrats to run in 2006 and 2008 is now Barack Obama's Chief-of-Staff! Doesn't sound much like an olive branch to the Arab street, does it? It also seems to signal that Obama has aligned himself with those who've most outwardly opposed the Party's Left-wing )the Waxman's, the Conyer's and the Feingold's)...Has this "New Liberalism" moved to the Right, or have I moved Left???

Sadly, the biggest casualty in this election was the economic truth - the credit crisis was not a "bipartisan failure" (even though many Republicans DID help block the called for reforms and oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2003 and AGAIN in 2005). That crisis is almost entirely the fault of Rep. Frank, Senator Dodd, Franklin Raines, Tim Johnson, etc.

The MSM has been in the tank for Liberals for decades. An independent survey showed that ABC and CBS ran appx. 58% negative stories on McCain compared to 22% negative on Obama and 20% neutral stories, while far-Left MSNBC ran 78% negative on McCain and 13% negative on Obama and 9% neutral.

By comparison, the "hated FoxNews" reportedly ran 40% negative on McCain, 40% negative on Obama and 20% neutral.

Ironically enough, the MSM hasn't been able to convert many Americans - gay marriage again went down to defeat, even in CALIFORNIA, which went for Obama by 24 points! Race/gender-based preferences also barred on a number of ballot initiatives....PLEASE Liberals....PLEASE don't think that the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity "had more influence than the entire MSM." That's utter BS. The American people merely thought for themselves on those issues and voted their Center-Right predilections.

As for the economy, ironically enough, we've had a Democratic Congress since 2007 and they've moved the country onto a very definite Keynesian path.

The Spring "stimulus package," the recent "$700 BILLION bank bailout" and the 2007 SHAMnesty Bill were all Democratic creations, originating in Congress.

It's no coincidence that the economy has taken a nose dive since 2007.

The Misery Index will tell the story going forward. If 2009's Misery Index tops double digits and 2010's (when the last vestige of Supply Side policy, the Bush "across the board" income tax cuts expire) gets worse, then we'll be on a four year negative Keynesian track.

But we'll see.

Obama ran on a platform built on tax cuts, on supporting the NSA surveillance program and on gun rights...he even touted lowering the Corporate tax, which is really just a stealth sales tax, as its passed on to all of us, as consumers.

If he follows through on that agenda, I'll be fine with much, if not most of it.

Bottom-line, the Misery Index will tell the story on the economy over the next couple years.

The Fundamental Flaw in Liberalism...

Let me ask an honest question.

Do you really believe that the vast majority of people (your neighbors and co-workers, etc.) are motivated by malice...or even ethnic animus?

If they are, what accounts for more Asians per capita getting into Colleges and Universities than their white counterparts?

What accounts for the fact that West Indian blacks, in Queens NY, earn more than their white neighbors in that same borough?

And what accounts for the fact that black women, on average, earn more than white females?

The view that “people are basically bad or debased and without government watching over them would revert to their basest natures” is a horrifically misanthropic, not to mention elitist one, for those who claim that, ALWAYS exclude themselves from such vile characterizations and almost always include the benign caveat, “present company excluded.”

See?

The implication is, “You and I may not be bad people, but pretty much everyone else is.”

Well, if we accept that “you and I aren’t bad people,” why do we propose that most others ARE “bad people?” On what grounds do we make such a malignant presumption?

I have a hard time believing that any decent, caring person could honestly hold to that basic outlook.

Still, that seems to be the basis for so much of the Liberal/Left-wing outlook – “People (that is, OTHER people) are scum.”

I don’t see things that way and I don’t view others that way at all. In fact, I’ve always said that “some of the best and worst people I’ve ever met are of (give ANY group),” and THAT’S the human condition.

I absolutely reject the notion that people are generally “bad,” “debased,” or “inclined toward evil,” and “need strict government supervision.”

That viewpoint is completely antithetical to America’s Founding design and is, at its core, a prescription for the worst kind of tyranny.

I believe in a free and open market and the cut-throat competition it breeds. I believe in the natural right to violent self-defense, whenever necessary to defend one’s life OR property and I believe in it with regard to criminal justice – the government/police should react to and punish those guilty of felonious crimes, NOT seek to anticipate them and restrict people’s free movement in the name of “suspicious activity.”

Basically and fundamentally, I, like most conservatives, believe that the vast and overwhelming majority of people are good and decent and like myself, and I presume yourself, try to do the most good and the least harm they can each day. I don’t innately mistrust other people and know few other people who do. Of course, I know few real Liberals.

The bottom line is that Conservatives have faith in the basic goodness and innate abilities of people and Liberals do not and THAT is the fundamental flaw of the Liberal/Left-wing ideology.
