On Thursday, June 15th, 2017 the NY Times (NYT) printed an editorial that deliberately tried to revive a debunked conspiracy theory about Jared Loughner, the deranged killer who on January 8th, 2011 shot 13 people, killing 6 and severely wounding Rep. Gabby Giffords, in Tuscon, AZ., to Sarah Palin's campaign.
There were no links between the Leftist Loughner and Sarah Palin's campaign. In fact the NYT reported that Loughner would get angry just at the sight of President George W. Bush.
According to a CBS report, most of those who knew Loughner said he was a liberal. He was said to have lauded the Communist Manifesto and allegedly followed the 9/11 “truther” movement.
So, if anything, Jared Loughner was yet another deranged Leftist who..."went off."
Despite those facts, the NYT's June 15th editorial sought to resurrect the discredited conspiracy theory that Sarah Palin's message that listed Arizona's gun-control supporting legislators with target sights placed on a map depicting Arizona's Congressional districts. NOTHING at all untoward, or inciteful about those campaign flyers.
The slander was so egregious that the NYT's almost immediately issued a retraction; "An earlier version of this editorial incorrectly stated that a link existed between political incitement and the 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords. In fact, no such link was established."
THAT is too much like a prosecutor intentionally stating a barred evidence from a previous crime to deliberately prejudice the jury and then "withdrawing" what the jury already heard!
The NYT and other media outlets should be held to a HIGHER standard of truth and accuracy NOT a lower one.
Their own earlier reporting proves they knew that Jared Loughner was a deranged Leftist and yet sought to smear a fine American politician (Sarah Palin) in order to attempt to create a false equivalency between peaceful Conservatives and violent, often deranged Leftists, like those of the Occupy movements, the AntiFa fascists and the avowed racial bigots of BLM.
We desperately NEED a new American media.
