I don’t know who wrote the email piece directly below. While it’s very politically incorrect, there are also a number of undeniable truths expressed in it.
It’s been going around the internet for awhile now. It was even mentioned by Michigan Republican Committeeman Dave Agema, which prompted a response from Georgetown Researcher Nathan Lean, writing in the Detroit Free Press, much of it used by Dr. Hesham Hassaballa in a "Chicago Now" article quoted below.

MUSLIM HERITAGE IN America
Have you ever been to a Muslim hospital?
Have you heard a Muslim orchestra?
Have you seen a Muslim band march in a parade?
Have you witnessed a Muslim charity?
Have you seen Muslims, supporting Muslim Girl Scouts?
Have you seen a Muslim Candy Striper?
Have your seen a Muslim do anything that contributes positively
to the American way of life????
to the American way of life????
The answer is no, you did not.
Just ask yourself WHY???

AN AMERICAN CITIZEN'S RESPONSE:
Dear Mr. Obama:
Were those Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed? Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.
Were those Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.
Can you show me one Muslim signature on the United States Constitution?
Declaration of Independence?
Bill of Rights?
Didn't think so.
Did Muslims fight for this country's freedom from England?
No.
Did Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America?
No, they did not.
In fact, Muslims to this day are still the largest traffickers in human slavery. Your own half-brother, a devout Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black Muslims as "pug nosed slaves." Says a lot of what the Muslim world really thinks of your family's "rich Islamic heritage," doesn't it Mr. Obama?
Where were Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country?
Not present.
There are no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or helping to advance the cause of Civil Rights.
Where were Muslims during this country's Woman's Suffrage era?
Again, not present.
In fact, devout Muslims demand that women are subservient to men in the Islamic culture. So much so, that often they are beaten for not wearing the 'hajib' or for talking to a man who is not a direct family member or their husband.
Yep, the Muslims are all for women's rights,
aren't they?
aren't they?
Where were Muslims during World War II?
They were aligned with Adolf Hitler.
The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from the Nazi's in killing Jews.
Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001?
If they weren't flying planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle East.
No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day.
Strangely, the very "moderate" Muslims you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo, Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.
And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the "rich heritage" Muslims have here in America.
Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates.
They were Muslims.
And now we can add November 5, 2009 - the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.
That, Mr. Obama is the "Muslim heritage" in America.

In the Name of God: the Infinitely Merciful and Compassionate Beloved Lord
It is a tired, old claim by Islamophobes that Muslims haven't contributed to either the history or social fabric of this country. Michigan Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema recently waded into that muck by sharing a post that asked such questions as;
“Have you ever been to a Muslim hospital? Have you heard of a Muslim orchestra? A Muslim marching band? Have you witnessed a Muslim charity?
Can you show me one Muslim signature on the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, or Bill of Rights? Have you ever seen a Muslim do anything that contributes positively to the American way of life?”
Georgetown Researcher Nathan Lean responded in an extraordinary fashion in the Detroit Free Press:
■ “American Muslims have a substantial presence in the health care industry. The Islamic Medical Association of North America, one of many such organizations, estimates that there are more than 20,000 Muslim physicians in the United States. Similarly, an analysis of statistics provided by the American Medical Association indicates that 10% of all American physicians are Muslims. While no Islamic hospitals exist in the United States, per se, several Muslim-based health clinics do. And let’s not forget that the hospital itself is not an American invention — it’s an Egyptian one. For that matter, the father of modern surgery wasn’t an American Protestant pioneer, either, but a 10th-Century Muslim physician from Spain, Abu al-Qasim al-Zahrawi.”
■ “Criticism over the absence of Muslim orchestras in the United States rings hollow, as well. Few orchestras are comprised exclusively of members from one particular faith, and many are organized along ethnic or other lines. The National Arab and New York Arabic Orchestras are two examples of groups whose members include numerous Muslims. Similarly, marching bands are obviously affiliated with high schools or universities, not mosques or churches, and surely Muslim students make up these musical groups, which, as it turns out, trace their roots back to the military bands of the Muslim Ottoman empire. The violin, too, finds its origins within the 10th-Century bowing instruments of Islamic civilization.”
■ “Muslim charity groups in the United States are too numerous to catalog, though the Bay Area Islamic Networks Group, the UMMA Clinic in Los Angeles, the Chicago-based Inner-City Muslim Action Network and Dearborn’s ACCESS are examples of groups that provide crucial services and empower the underprivileged. In 2013, the Muslim charity Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) was rated among the top 10 charities in the United States.”
■ “Agema is correct, however, to point out that there are no Muslim signatures on the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence or the Bill of Rights. That’s because the first major wave of Muslim immigration to the U.S. occurred in the mid-to-late 19th Century — nearly 100 years after those documents were written. But the beauty of America is that the rights enshrined in our founding documents protect everyone, regardless of their time of arrival or their religious identity.”
■ “It’s also the case that Muslim Americans designed the Sears (now Willis) and Hancock towers in Chicago, developed the chemotherapy mechanism that treats brain tumors and revolutionized this country’s original art form: jazz. They also contribute through their service as educators, lawmakers and soldiers and are on the front lines of campaigns to end some of today’s most egregious civil rights abuses.”
It is amazing how some of the most beautiful, grandiose theories can be destroyed by ugly little facts...

Assessing Both Pieces
OK, Georgetown Researcher Nathan Lean acknowledged that despite their widespread presence in the medical field, there are no Muslim Hospitals in the U.S. Likewise, the vast majority of the Islamic charities noted are strictly focused on Aid exclusively to Muslims, as opposed to the Red Cross’s focus on assisting ALL in need.
He then wiped away all the early American historical questions (signatories on the Declaration of Independence, early settlers, etc.) with the assertion that “the first wave of Muslim immigration to the U.S. came in the late 19th Century.”
Mr. Lean goes on to note that most symphony orchestras and marching bands are not set up along religious/ethnic lines, but the truth is that while there are Muslim schools, there aren’t many, if any marching bands associated with them, nor do their appear to be many, if any Muslims among the New York Philharmonic, but those are, in my view, minor considerations. A citizen’s value isn’t defined by their group’s participation in Marching Bands or Symphony Orchestras.
It would seem that organizations like Girl Scouts and Candy Stipers were ignored by Mr. Lean, most likely because of the fact that Muslim culture does not treat women as equals in any way, which is also, no doubt why few, if any Muslims would support, let alone fight for Women’s suffrage.
Even more distressing is the fact that recent history has been even LESS KIND to Muslim culture, as they DID indeed side with the Nazis in WW II and the Baath Party was an Arabic Nazi Party.
It’s also true that during WW II, the Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from the Nazi's in killing Jews.
It’s also sadly true that today, Muslims are among the largest traffickers in human flesh/chattel slavery. It’s also true that President Obama’s own Kenyan half-brother, a devout Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black Muslims as "pug nosed slaves."
Those are much tougher indictments to move away from.
Even more difficult to distance themselves from is the fact that present-day Muslims have sewn cultural and religious discord wherever they’ve been, from the Mideast (Muslims vs Christians and Jews), to Asia (Kashmir – Muslims vs Hindus), to Russia (the Chechen terrorism), even in China, Europe and the U.S.
This, and the fact that the Sharia-based Islamic moral code, with its public executions and amputations and legally approved and encouraged “Honor Killings,” seems incompatible in virtually every way with that of the West’s, is the biggest problem the West seems to have with the Sharia-culture of Islam.
