Michael Bloomberg on the Correct Focus for Gun Control

To this day, Michael Bloomberg has been the most courageous of all the Leftists on gun control.

At least he puts the focus on where the problem really is...urban violence.

Since 1976, black Americans have committed at least 50% of the homicides nationwide. Moreover, TODAY, homicide is the leading cause of death for black males between the ages of 16 and 36. Homicide is NOT among the top 5 causes of death for any other group.

Back in February of 2015, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg reportedly argued that guns need to be kept out of the hands of minorities in order to keep them alive. (http://www.washingtontimes.com/…/sughed-michael-bloomberg-…/)

While speaking at the Aspen Institute, Mr. Bloomberg, 72, said that 95 percent of murders fall into a specific category: a male minority minorities between the ages of 15 and 25. Bloomberg went on to say, "We need to get guns out of this group’s hands and keep them alive."

“These kids think they’re going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed,” said Mr. Bloomberg, who funds the gun-control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety. “They just don’t have any long-term focus or anything. It’s a joke to have a gun. It’s a joke to pull a trigger.”

It might seem that those like Jim Rich (of the NY Daily News), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Christopher S. Murphy D-CT) don't really care about those tragic stats and would be happy to let homicide continue to be the leading cause of death for black males 16 to 36 years, so long as they could get a more blanket gun control through.

WHY?!

Why the lack of empathy for a community that is suffering the most with this crisis of violence?

I KNOW that I've posted this link before, but it's instructive to see how EASY it is for backyard gunsmiths to make high quality guns (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fna9WEO6BjE).

Solving America's violence crisis will take more than naive attempts to make guns illegal. It will take real hard work and direct interdiction with a focus on those communities most impacted.
