The current global economic recession, triggered by the Frank-Dodd-Bush meddling in the mortgage market has resulted in a growing gap in employment along racial lines.
The subsequent non-stimulating stimulus package hasn’t done much to alleviate the disparities either. In fact, it could be argued that the policies of the current administration have only exacerbated the problem.
In New York, long one of the most Liberal cities in America, while unemployment rose steadily for white New Yorkers from the first quarter of 2008 through the first three months of this year, the number of unemployed blacks in the city rose four times as fast. In NYC, the black unemployment rate has soared FROM just under 8% in 2008 to over 15% today!
In the first quarter of 2008, the rate of joblessness among blacks nationwide was 8.9 percent, compared with 4.8 percent for whites; in the first quarter of 2009, the rate for blacks had risen to 13.6 percent, while the rate for whites had gone to 8.2 percent.
This comes as a result of a range of issues facing black workers, primarily, a disproportionate employment rate in the most vulnerable industries. So, why didn't any of these Liberal programs do anything to protect and preserve those very jobs? And why were those folks so much better off under the previous administration? Is the current White House that uncaring?

If you're going to push for socialized health care, you first need to create a need, or market for it. Raising the unemployment rate and destroying the economy is a great way to do that.
Beyond that, there's just too much irony to put into words.
They wanted "change"...they're about to get it.
It must be because of 'racism'.
Sadly, Roady, this "universal healthcare" isn't going to be "universal" - even Ted Kennedy admits there will be rationing and restrictions AND it'll open the door for government to micromanage the people's lives.
If you don't "eat right", workout regularly, or have any other "bad habits", the government could threaten you with losing your healthcare or paying larger premiums if you don't comply with their edicts.
That's a sound foundation for authoritarianism.
Well Linda, that's exactly what some advocacy groups are claiming.
The sad fact is that when the economy declines, those in the most vulnerable jobs (ie. manufacturing in an increasingly information-based economy like ours) are usually the hardest hit.
