A Thought On the Possible Torture Prosecutions...

Congress was continually briefed on the “enhanced interrogations” conducted in the wake of 9/11/01.

ALL those Congressmen and women who were briefed and now support prosecutions for those who offered the legal opinions that allowed them, well, they TOO SHOULD BE prosecuted, precisely because of their presence in those briefings.

I’ll put it like this, if you were in Congress and were briefed and now claim you didn’t really get all the information, either you were incompetent (unable to even ask the right questions and comprehend those briefings), in which case you should RESIGN NOW, OR you are culpable and should be prosecuted to the same extent of those who rendered the decisions you now claim to oppose.

I totally agree. I do believe that this whole torture thing is really a smoke screen to hide that they are trying to fast track health care reform.

Nancy and Harry are already using a proceedure that will prevent filibuster, so to keep the public eye off them raming through this legislation, they introduce a highly partisan subject... torture.

The radical left gets to think they will have the Bush Admin behind bars, the media will do everything it can to keep our attention on torture and Nancy and Harry get the diversion they need.

In the end, they will find some way to weasel out of going all the way down this road, but by then we may very well have socialized health care with all the leftwing bells and whistles.

You're almost certainly right about the diversion Clifton, although the "torture" prosecutions are very popular with the far-Left.

Worse still, is that many, if not MOST Corporations want some form of "Universal" or government-run healthcare to get them off the hook for providing that as a form of untaxable compensation.

The airlines and the auto-makers have been especially vocal on this.

One of the sad things about American industry is how many Leftists there are on the various boards of directors. Hell, this pst year, Wall Street gave a LOT more to the Democrats than they did to the GOP.

Sad to say, there are far more regular folks who are Conservtive and libertarian than members of those executive boards.

None of that bodes well for freedom.

Short, sweet, and to the point. Good on you, JMK!

Facts mean nothing to the current liberal gang in DC today. All that matters is turning the US into the North American version of the EU.

I agree with your post, BTW.
