Still More Proof of the Dysgenic Effects of Crime....

This past Tuesday, a van driven by 18 y/o Kayla Gerdes struck and killed Dr. Rebecca Twine, M.D. PhD, as Dr. Twine mowed her front lawn around 9:45 AM.

Kayla Gerdes was allegedly high on Xanax and Oxycodone at the time of the “accident.” She’s been charged with 2nd degree manslaughter, 2nd degree vehicular homicide, driving while ability impaired by drugs and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Allegedly, Ms. Gerdes insisted on taking the wheel from the car’s owner and her co-worker, Brian Steele, because she thought he was driving too slow.

When you drive a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol and kill someone, that’s NOT an “accident,” it’s willful and reckless disregard and depraved indifference to human life and it’s vehicular homicide.

Kayla Gerdes is being held on $200,000 bond or $100,000 bail. According to reports, she was rushing because she was late to yet another court appearance on charges that she stole jewelry from “her mother’s boyfriend.”

Sounds about right.

Dr. Twine’s son Chauncey said, “I can’t even put into words what my family is going through, my mother was really the kindest, just sweetest, most gentle person that you’ll ever meet, and for her to die this way is just horrible...”

I can’t imagine that that is a momentous understatement.

For her part, Kayla Gerdes noted, “The thing that made me feel not so bad was she was old...I man 70 years is a long time to live.”

Spoken like a true crackhead. Isn't it amazing how such people almost always indict themselves with their own calloused words?

Here’s yet another testament to the dysgenics of crime. Here, a brilliant academic (Dr. Rebecca Twine, M.D., PhD) is mowed down on her own front lawn by a marginal, deeply troubled and drug addled teen, devoid of the ability to replace the talents lost in any appreciable way.

So the world loses Dr. Rebecca Twine and still has the deeply troubled and woefully self-centered Kayla Gerdes around. That’s the very definition of dysgenic, "the less intelligent, less productive and less able are displaced, via crime (especially violent crime) by the less intelligent, less productive and less able."


That's what I’d call a LOSE-LOSE proposition...and that is the general and overall impact of crime, especially violent crime.

The Dysgenics of Crime and Why Rehabilitative Justice Doesn’t Make Sense

The most insidious impact of random violent crime (“street crime”) is its dysgenic effect on society. Generally a low IQ, substance abusing, dysfunctional member of society inflicts long-lasting, most often life-changing violence upon a higher functioning, productive member of society.

There is no possible worse outcome for a society that seeks to move forward.

Over 80% of the criminal class (those chronically incarcerated) are functionally illiterate. What is commonly called “street crime” (armed robberies, car-jackings, muggings, etc) is almost always the result of dysfunctional humans seeking a way to garner commodities without benefit of work. These people, like most of the chronically poor are impulsive, reckless, prone to substance abuse and irresponsible.

Crime victims, tend to be those who are productive, if not prosperous – that is, store owners, people who have things like cars, jobs (some money), etc.

The focus on “rehabilitative justice” with adult felons is extremely misguided primarily because as the saying goes, “You can’t get silk out of a sow’s ear,” meaning you can’t replace that productive victim with a “rehabilitated” predator – the requisite skills the predator has are too low to begin with, in most cases.

When a doctor is car-jacked and murdered by a typical thug, society loses greatly. It loses a productive physician, who most likely has an IQ above 130, and we’re left with one or more dysfunctional thugs, more often than not, illiterate, and almost certainly of very limited capacity. That doctor will not be replaced via the rehabilitation of 1,000 such rehabbed thugs.

Just as in the case below, with the murder of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom, America lost two College students, certainly literate, probably intent on leading productive lives and we’re left with five extremely dysfunctional street people, all, no doubt, barely literate and even if they COULD be rehabilitated, they almost certainly lack the basic skills and capacities their two victims possessed.

While random violence or “street crime” inflicts a huge human toll on the individual victims themselves, it inflicts an even larger, more devastating cost upon society at large.
