What's Behind the Blue Bell Ice Cream Tampering?

.
.
.

So far, at least two people have been caught tampering with (licking) unopened Blue Bell ice cream containers in stores, then placing them back on the freezer shelves.

The culprits COULD face up to 20 years in prison. (https://pix11-com.cdn.ampproject.org/…/woman-who-lick…/amp/…). Tampering is a serious crime, since the Tylenol scare of the 1980s. Licking a product can spread germs/disease and COULD BE considered a form of "Bio Terror," by a zealous prosecutor.

It also highlights a brand ("Blue Bell") in a very negative way.

I didn't know that any such containers weren't wrapped in security film, the way Breyers products are, but that's obviously a problem now.

You have to wonder whether this is really just viral idiocy, OR corporate shenanigans.

Another thing it highlights is how dumb a lot of people still are. In most stores (virtually all, today) you're on security's CCTV every minute you're in that store. The resolution is good and you're easily caught once on film.

Personally, I LOVE this ubiquitous surveillance!

Hmmmmm, how long before Blue Bell increases its packaging security?

How long before Breyers and others use their already existing packaging security as a selling point?
