Some people can't help themselves. Bill DeBlasio seems to be one of them.

After quoting the infamous Ernesto Che Guevara, New York's Mayor had to apologize for quoting the mass murdering Communist at an event in Miami.

"I did not know the phrase I used in Miami today was associated with Che Guevara & I did not mean to offend anyone who heard it that way. I certainly apologize for not understanding that history," the Democratic presidential hopeful posted on Twitter.

"I only meant it as a literal message to the striking airport workers that I believed they would be victorious in their strike," he wrote.

De Blasio was addressing striking workers at Miami International Airport when he shouted in Spanish, "Hasta la victoria, siempre!" which translates to "Until victory, always!" -- a slogan coined by the polarizing Argentine-born Cuban revolutionary..."

Ironically enough, as Cuba’s Minister of Industries in the 1960s, Guevara also said this; “By no means can Cuban workers go on strike! Cuban workers must adjust to life in a collectivist-socialists order!”

He also often referred to the United States as the “great enemy of mankind.”

For his part, Guevara actually begged the Soviet Union to nuke the U.S., specifically New York, Washington D.C. and/or Los Angeles. He famously said; “Against those hyenas there is no option but extermination...if the missiles had remained in Cuba, we would have fired them against the heart of the U.S. including New York City!”

Peach of guy, Bill!

Given the Mayor's own personal musings about "most New Yorkers wanting the Socialism that would dictate where people lived and what rent they paid," it's hard to believe this was just a gaffe, but giving him the benefit of the doubt only makes stupidity the other option.

Hardly a ringing endorsement for office. "Hey, I'm not homicidal, just stupid!"

Hmmmm, catchy, but that wouldn't get my vote...
