Is Keith Olbermann on His Way Out The Door at MSNBC???...

The reviews for Keith Olbermann are coming in fast and furious, and few of them are any good.

Andrew Malcolm at The Los Angeles Times says “Obermann is sinking fast”:

“In the most desirable TV demographic of 25-54, which Keith will soon outgrow himself, “Countdown” lost 44% of its audience from the beginning of President Obama’s term until this year. It could have been worse — say, 45%.

“Olbermann averaged 268,000 viewers last month in that sector. That’s just several thousand sets of those eyes more than Campbell Brown over on CNN. According to one count, Keith even finished in that time slot behind Nancy Grace. Nancy Grace!”

Meanwhile Jeff Bercovici at Daily Finance adds:

“There are also more subjective signs that Olbermann’s stridency and lack of proportion are alienating some of his natural allies. Quite a few eyebrows elevated last week when Jon Stewart, in a parody of one of Olbermann’s “Special Comment” segments, called out the newsman for going way over the top in his denunciations of Republican Senator-elect Scott Brown of Massachusetts. The criticism was all the more remarkable, given that Stewart and Olbermann usually take the same side on most issues, especially when it comes to Fox News and the Republicans.

“Olbermann’s overheated rhetoric also drew a sharp response from Joe Scarborough, MSNBC’s house conservative, who called his fellow host’s attack on Brown “reckless” and “sad.” The exchange (and a few earlier, similar incidents) inspired network president Phil Griffin to issue a stern memo admonishing his charges: “We do not publicly criticize our colleagues. This kind of behavior is unprofessional and will not be tolerated.”

And Mark Memmott of National Public Radio notes:

“MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann strongly disagrees, but one of the memes of the day seems to be that Countdown with Keith Olbermann isn’t doing so well ratings-wise and might soon be history.”

“Keith has a habit of flaming out,” says one NBC producer. “It’s happening again.”

NBC insiders are said to be sweating over Keith Olbermann, but not because of his politics. Turns out that Keith Olbermann may have finally become a very real liability for NBC:

Olbermann...went after former MSNBC general manager Dan Abrams Wednesday night, claiming Abrams had been fired and had a grudge against the network.

That tirade left NBC executives red-faced as Abrams, a lawyer, is still employed by NBC as a news analyst on legal issues.

Between that attack on a fellow MSNBC figure and his dismal ratings, Olbermann may have finally made MSNBC’s decision on him easy!

For my money, the folks at MSNBC can’t flush this turd soon enough.

  2. We can only only hope, Clifton!

Olbermann is by far the most recklessly personal and routinely deceitful of any of MSNBC's Opinion mouthpieces .....with Chris "fur ball" Matthews a close second.

If Comcast hopes to make any money with MSNBC they're gonna have to take a huge broom to that place and sweep it out first.

Olbermann's inane strategy of "providing the Left counter-punch to Bill O'Reilly," was fatally flawed from the start. For one thing, O'Reilly's a moderate, traditionalist, who opposes the death penalty, supports a guest worker program and supports "government oversight (a/k/a "meddling") in insurance rates and energy pricing...in fact, O'Reilly's actually slightly Left-of-Center to all but the VERY far-Left (and those who revile his traditional values (like supporting harsher sentencing for pedophiles).

And for another, there already is a Left-of-Center counter-punch to Bill O'Reilly - it's called the mainstream media.

How'd Olby not see THAT coming?!

  5. Apparently ONLY MSNBC was stupid enough to keep this turd on for as long as they have; of course, MSNBC's ratings are in the crapper, too.

But I'm sure that when Olbermann is flushed, he'll wind up on Bill Maher...moron-to-moron.

    Hi Angel!

Olby is indeed a horrific person, Angel and, if you believe reports from people who claim to have known him, a phony too, BUT I'm not sure how much "influence" any such commentator has over people.

I believe that most of us come to the issues with an already set ideological compass. We are attracted to that which resonates with us and repelled by that which runs counter to our ideological compass.

That's why the top ratings getters in Talk Radio (Limbaugh, Hannity, Dobbs, Savage, etc.) are all Conservative and why Air America couldn't draw flies.

It also explains why FoxNews' Prime Time opinion line-up of O'Reilly, Hannity, Van Sustern, decimate MSNBC's Prime Time opinion line-up of Matthews, Olbermann and Maddow.

In other words, those poor souls who prefer Olbermann to, say, O'Reilly do so because of their own warped inner ideological compass.

It certainly seems so, and I do hope so, if only because Olby is without question the most recklessly personal and consistently vile "commentator" on the air today.

Interestingly enough, MSNBC became the far-Left sewer its now infamous for when GE's Jeff Imelt decided to use that station as a de facto mouthpiece.

There've been boatloads of charges that GE has long NOT BEEN a "good Coporate citizen" (including the charge that GE parts have found their way into IEDs made in Iran and used in Iraq against American troops). Of course, by its inflicting MSNBC on the nation, they haven't been much of any kind of "good citizen."

What many Conservatives AND Libertarians often forget (and at our own peril) is that many of the leading Leftists/socialists come from the ranks of the Corporate titans and the "truly rich" (those who don't depend on income for wealth).

And it makes sense, when you consider it, as those are precisely the people motivated to support "freezing the "game" or free-for-all of the economy in place, with themselves at the top!

That (Left-wing devotees among the Corporate titans and the "truly rich") is a scam that has yet to be broken, or even fully exposed!
