According to Rasmussen;
Voters Trust Republicans More On 10 Top Issues
For the first time in recent years, voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on all 10 key electoral issues regularly tracked by Rasmussen Reports. The GOP holds double-digit advantages on five of them.
Incredibly enough, just a year after the worst fiscal disaster since the Carter administration, Republicans have nearly doubled their lead over Democrats on economic issues to 49% to 35%, after leading by eight points in September.
The GOP also holds a 54% to 31% advantage on national security issues and a 50% to 31% lead on the handling of the war in
Even on the highly contentious issue of health care, voters now give the edge to Republicans 46% to 40%.
On tax policy, Republicans are now ahead of Democrats an astounding 50% to 35%, nearly doubling their September lead on the issue.
Voters trust Republicans more on Social Security by a 45% to 37% margin.
Republicans lead on the issue of education 43% to 38%.
Voters also trust Republicans more on the handling of abortion 47% to 35%.
Ethics is the one issue that voters seem less sure which party they trust more to handle government ethics and corruption, an issue that passed the economy in voter importance last month. Thirty-three percent (33%) trust Republicans more while 29% have more confidence in Democrats. Another 38% are undecided.
According to Rasmussen, Republicans even enjoy a seven-point lead on the issue of immigration.
Worse still for Liberals approaching 2010, according to Rasmussen's results, "The GOP advantage over Democrats increased from two points to five in the latest edition of the Generic Congressional Ballot. Forty-two percent (42%) would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 37% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent...and while "a lot can happen over the next twelve months," we seem to be headed in a very bad direction. I'm betting those numbers only trend worse for the Liberals over that period.

This is good news, but I'm not popping the champagne bottle just yet. A lot can happen between now and the 2010 elections. All we can really do is keep our fingers crossed and PRAY. I'll be doing both.
ReplyDeleteisn't this just a hoot? I love it when a plan comes together, and the opposition doesn't have a clue about what is going on?
ReplyDeleteThe Conservatives are taking over again, and the Democrats have no clue. Great post JMK.
I agree Seane-Anna, a lot CAN happen.
ReplyDeleteOf course, we are on a very bad track...GW Bush was as Keynesian (addicted to spending and with a strong faith in government) and Obama is Jimmy Carter on steroids...things are trending downward.
ONE thing that HAS to happen for Conservatives to be happy is that some kind of Gingrichian figure must appear within this year. Someone with galvanizing ideas and the ability to sway the public back to the Right.
Yes, it's swaying that way now, but that can't be taken for granted...NOW is the time for Conservatism to press the advantage.
Hi Robert!
ReplyDeleteSadly, I don't think much of it is due to the public's love for Conservatives, ALTHOUGH the Gallup Poll below, with Conservatives outnumbering Liberals in all 50 states and by a nearly 2 to 1 margin (40% to 21%) is encouraging...I think a lot of it is the very correct perception that while Bush's overspending headed us on a very wrong path, Obama has followed that up with even more overspending....and worse yet, for Dems, the economy's actually getting worse!
I hold out a lot of hope for 2010, BUT Conservatives NEED a galvanizing front-man, the way Newt Gingrich was back in 1994.
The last thing we need is for the Moderate.Rockefeller-wing of the GOP to screw this up.
I agree, JMK: who to rally around from the Right, to keep this train on the track and run the liberals right out of their drug-tripping power binge in '10? Another McCain or RINO can screw this up. So watch the media carefully; if they start pushing one Republican over others, you may well have found the RINO the Left is counting on to be thrown in the pumps.

I sure hope that Newt Gingrich hasn't sold out Conservatism for Republicanism.
I'm greatly disappointed by his Party-line stand against Hoffman in NY's 29th and I don't like his conciliatory posture toward the Moderates at all, BUT, some have said that insiders, like Gingrich see the very real possibility of much of the GOP's Rockefeller-wing bolting to the other side should Conservatism's agenda be pushed too far.
I don't know if that's true, but I do know that the Rockefeller-wing's position on illegal immigration, Keynesianism and many other issues isn't far from that of Ted Kennedy liberals.
Maybe we should let them bolt.....but I believe that some, like Gingrich(?) may we feel the GOP NEEDS their money.
