How’s That Socialism Working Out for You???...

One of the few remaining Socialist/Command economies in the world (Cuba) is currently going through, among other things, embarrassingly enough – a toilet paper shortage!

As if MORE proof were needed that governments can’t run businesses, “WHOOOPS there it IS.”

Rueters reports, “Cuba, in the grip of a serious economic crisis, is running short of toilet paper and may not get sufficient supplies until the end of the year, officials with state-run companies said Friday...Cuba's financial reserves have been depleted by increased spending for imports and reduced export income, which has forced the communist-led government to take extraordinary measures to keep the economy afloat.”

For all those U.S. dimwits who still say inane things like, “The government runs the Post Office and NASA just fine, so why don’t you think a government-run economy couldn’t work?”

Well, here’s even more proof....let's just call this "Exhibit 1,784, 693"...

  1. Export?

Really, it's only cigarres and rum (here in Europe anyway).

I met a Cuban a while ago, and she told me that soap bars (besides from the USD) was the most common and realible currency on Cuba.

    Phew!

But the really funny thing was that she still supported the government, even though she had fled the country...

She actually thought that castro and che were heroes!

On the other side, many Europeians think that too.

That's the sad thing about being raised in a place like that, eve
ntually you get used to getting taken care of and being dependent upon the state.....they begin to fel that that dependancy is the natural condition of all people.

  4. I can't imagine that either Maria, but Leftists are basically misanthropic, they hate other people.

That is almost certainly why Leftists of all races ascribe their own base motives to others. It's why blacks who see Conservatives as "racists" for demanding accountability for all (in other words, treating everyone as equals), while shuffling and guffawing when white Liberals shower the likes of Mike Steele and Condi Rice with all kinds of racial invective.

Leftism really is, at its core, a mental disorder, rooted in "emotional thinking."

OMG! i just had this conversation with a good friend today and we surmised the same thing! sad thing is, i don't think it's treatable.

  6. ...And I'd doubt that most on the Left would want treatment if one were available.

The problem I have with most of the Left i the blatant hypocrisy, for instance, "black & white" bigots engaging in blatant racial & ideological bigotry against both black (Mike Steele and J C Watts) and female (Sarah Palin and Condi Rice) conservatives, while maligning those they ideologically disagree with (Conservatives and Republicans) as "racists"merely because they don't like those views and can"t argue against them.

And their constant calling for more "tolerance," tolerance for gay Marriage, illegal immigrants, even pedophiles, while themselves engaging in the most blatant and vile ideological intolerance.

I'm glad you're around Maria and I'm really glad you're out there writing and being heard.

  7. If it wasn't so sad (and typical), it would be funny

  8. It IS both sad and typical.

Here and throughout the West, the Left (Labour in Britain and the Democratic party here in the USA) are often referred to as "pro-socialist" and certainly there are many Liberals (like Bernie Sandrs of VT) who are and run as "socialists," BUT what those Parties really adhere to is Keynesianism.

In fact, MANY in BOTH major U.S. Parties support Keynesianism. Herbert Hoover, FDR, LBJ, Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter ALL supported Keynesianism.

Certainly, the more regulated the Keynesianism, the more "socialistic" the economy and the LESS personal freedoms/LIBERTY enjoyed by the people.

While BOTH Parties embrace some degree of Keynesianism and espouse some, though different limitations on individual Liberty, the GOP has learned to "talk the Libertarian talk."

That is the sad state of affairs moden Americans now find themselves in.
