Dutch legislator and film-maker Geert Wilders (above, bottom pic) has been indicted and will apparently be tried for hate speech in the Netherlands.
The title, "Fitna", is an Arabic term used to describe "disagreement and division among people" or a "test of faith in times of trial".
Wilders, a prominent critic of Islam, described the movie as "a call to shake off the creeping tyranny of Islamization". The film shows a selection of Suras from the Qur'an, interspersed with media clips and newspaper clippings showing or describing acts of violence and hatred by Muslims. The movie tries to demonstrate that the Qur'an, and the Islamic culture in general, motivate its followers to hate all who violate the Islamic teachings.
For their part, the Netherlands Court of Appeal said it “considers criminal prosecution obvious for the insult of Islamic worshippers” after Wilders compared parts of their faith with Nazism.
That ruling, posted on the court’s Web site today, overturns a decision by the prosecutor last year not to charge Wilders.
For his part, Wilders said, “I see this as a black day,” in statement on the Web site of his Dutch Freedom Party. “If you voice your opinion you run the risk of being prosecuted.”
Wilders released his film “Fitna” on the internet in March 2008. The 17-minute movie features verses from the Koran alongside images of various Muslim atrocities and terrorist attacks.
This ruling is an outrage, NOT only shaming the Netherlands, but the West as a whole. It is nothing less than an official seal of approval for Dhimmitude.

"KILL GEERT WILDERS"
ReplyDeleteThey can threaten ALL THEY WANT, but let us return the favor and THE WEST is the bad guys.
Wouldn't you THINK the guy carrying that sign would be arrested?
gggrrrrr!!
Thanks for the fantastic information to Ducky at my place...I REALLY appreciate having some truth in the glare of his leftist stupor-writing.
You just know the new administration is looking at the viability of this in America.
ReplyDeleteAmerica...it was fun while it lasted.
Happy Belated New Year, JMK. I am checking in with you to make sure you are okay.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to understand why there is so much empathy for Jihadist Terrorists. Am I missing the point somewhere?
ReplyDeletethanks my friend for the link..this is truly the litmus test my friend..is it not?!
ReplyDeleteI suppose this is an example of the "mutual respect" that Obama says we need to show the Muslim world.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated Z.
ReplyDeleteYou WOULD (logically) think THAT sign would be "hate speech," BUT "hate speech" isn't really so much about punishing "hate," as "the RIGHT kind of hate."
That's the canard behind that bit of "thought-control."
I sure hope not Roady.
ReplyDeleteI personally DO NOT believe (despite Obama's appeal to Muslims on Al Arabia TV) that this administration supports, in any way, radical Islam nor the "Islamification of America or the West."
I DO think they are naive on the topic, but NOT ill-intentioned.
Hi AM!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you as well.
I've been good, but very busy and it's limited my online time, BUT I do think of you and I have checked in or "lurked" your blog from time to time.
I don't know why there is ANY empathy for jihadists at all, BUT some claim that some fringe folks in the West are motivated in that regard by their culturalized empathy for "the underdog."
While our TV and movies DO always glorify the underdog, I really think there's more to it.
Some folks (the Kos kids and the MoveOn folks) seem motivated by a pernicious view that America is the "bad guy" on the world stage.
Weird as that seems.
It certainly IS a litmus test for American principles - freedom of speech, the right to say unpopular things, the right to think for one's self.
ReplyDeleteI can't blame any of this on Obama, Seane-Anna.
ReplyDeleteEurope has been far more capitulating toward the jihadists than America, to date. This is the result of that ill-conceived policy, in my view.
The truth hurts. Too bad these people aren't decent enough to change themselves. Silencing people who speak out against tyranny makes them, and their movement stronger. Maybe they did Wilders a favor. I wouldn't have known who he was if There hadn't been a scandal over it.
ReplyDeleteThe truth often does hurt, especially to those driven by emotion....LOGIC hurts.
ReplyDeleteGeert Wilders is on the RIGHT side of history and the right side of morality on this issue.
