Another “Dog Bites Man” Story
.
A Texas crowd enraged when a vehicle struck a child who darted out into the street killed one of the car’s occupants Tuesday.
Austin police identified the victim as David Rivas Morales, 40. He was killed trying to keep the mob from attacking the car’s driver.
The child was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Pictured above, Margaret Morales reacts, while talking about her brother, David, on the porch of her Austin, Texas townhouse, Wednesday, June 20, 2007.
.
The crowd was celebrating “Juneteenth, a “black holiday” marking the day, in 1865, that General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX., with news of the Emancipation Proclamation.
.
It is a “holiday” that tends to be celebrated with a surfeit of drunken violence each year, although it’s hard to figure out exactly why that is.
Child run's out into traffic and gets struck, but no life-threatening injuries.
ReplyDeleteUnsuspecting, and I'm guessing startled, driver and passengers get attacked and a man NOT driving, but a passenger in the car, gets killed?
Please tell me somebody's getting arrested. Oh, no, wait. Don't tell me; "Nobody saw nothing, man."
It remains to be seen, but the first thing I thought of was Crown Heights, where a riot was sparked when the driver of a car from a Jewish funeral lost control and struck a young child.
ReplyDeleteI hope they're able to catch the guys who did this.
